Mining gold in quartz rock involves extracting gold particles embedded within quartz. Currently we are working on pieces that have been pulled out over the summer.
Gold is a chemical element with the symbol Au and atomic number 79. It is a metal and belongs to the transition metals group on the periodic table.
Gold in quartz rock is often the result of hydrothermal processes where hot fluids carrying dissolved minerals, including gold, precipitate out of solution and deposit within fractures and fissures.
